Jory Henry (Peterson)
1941-2002
Jory Henwood Peterson, 61, of Duluth, died on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at her home, with her family by her side. She was born to Robert and Janet 'Woody' (Henwood) Henry on January 2, 1941, in Chicago. She graduated from Spring Branch Sr. High School in Houston. Jory went on to complete three years at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., and she graduated from Valpariaso University in 1963. Then she received her Masters of Education at the University of Illinois. She taught in elementary grades in Troy, Mich., and Urbana, Ill. Jory has been working for the past 14 years as the University of Minnesota Duluth as a Program Director of Adult programs, Elder Hostel and for the University for Seniors.
She was a member of the Jr. League, A.A.U.W. American Association of University Women, and acted as a Deacon at Glen Avon Presbyterian church. Jory loved to read, go for nature walks, and ski. She was a novice potter, and a craft's women who made pine cone wreaths. Most of all she loved people. She is preceded in death by her parents. Jory is survived by her husband Jerrold; sons, Gregory (Shey) of Duluth, Jim (Alessandra) of Detroit, and Matthew of Minneapolis; three grandchildren, Kitara, Koriana, Skylara; and brothers, Bill (Diane) Henry of St. Louis, and Sam (Kathy) Henry of Ogden, Utah. Hand painted stones will be at the service as a gift of remebrance. In Lieu of flowers memorials preferred to University of Minnesota Duluth, University for Seniors. MEMORIAL SERVICE: at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, in Glen Avon Presbyterian church. Arrangements are by Bell Brothers Funeral and Cremation Services, Bell Brothers Chapel. 601 N 56th Ave West.
