Specialist Robert Brett Manuel, 22, died Dec. 4, 2012, in Columbus, Georgia, with his family by his side.

Born on Aug. 28, 1990, in Houston, Brett excelled at being a soldier. After enlisting, he proved himself to be an exceptional leader and peer. He was a proud Army Ranger, serving his country in a short but distinguished career. Numerous stories were told of his character, honor and courage in the fight for the freedoms afforded to all of us.
